Women in Photonics 2022

22.03.202225.05.2022 | Jena

Photonics is a strongly growing sector of the economy and a major research area in Europe. In Thuringia and in particular in Jena, the scientific and industrial location is shaped by universities, research institutes, and companies in the field of optics and photonics. While the number of young, well-trained female graduates is high, women who hold a leading position in academia and high-tech industry are still underrepresented.

The workshop “Women in Photonics“ at Leibniz-IPHT aims at connecting excellent female scientists at the beginning of their career with experts in photonics holding leading positions at research institutions and companies.

The focus of this year’s workshop will be on:

  • Biophotonics such as vibrational spectroscopy, fluorescence, OCT, PAT, etc.
  • Photonic data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence

The workshop addresses female postdocs and PhD students working in these research areas, who want to present their own work and build up new networks. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange with experienced scientists from academia and industry and jointly develop strategies for a successful professional career.

The event is free of charge after registration.

The deadline for abstract submission is March 31. More Info and registration here:
